These animals belong to 11 different species, including: 3 Javan pangolins, 2 wild cats, 4 reticulated pythons and Burmese pythons, 10 pig-tailed macaques, 3 monitor lizards, 3 golden turtles, 9 three-ridged turtles, 3 snapping turtles, 4 large land turtles, and 1 striped-necked turtle. These are wild animals that were voluntarily handed over to the Forest Protection Department by residents of Ho Chi Minh City. After a period of care and rescue at the Cu Chi District Wildlife Rescue Station, they have recovered their health and are eligible to be released back into Chu Yang Sin National Park (Krong Bong District, Dak Lak Province).
A special highlight of this release is the appearance of a rare Javan pangolin, weighing approximately 7 kg. This Javan pangolin belongs to the group of endangered and rare animals requiring strict protection according to the list of endangered and rare forest animals, group IB.
In February 2025, the Dak Lak Provincial Center for Elephant, Animal and Forest Conservation also released many other wild animals, including: one pangolin, one pig-tailed macaque, four reticulated pythons and pythons, three long-tailed macaques, one wild cat, and three black-backed box turtles, yellow-fronted box turtles, and large land turtles. Before being released, all the animals were cared for by authorities, their health restored, and ensured they were in good condition to return to the wild.
This release program of 42 wild animals is an important step in biodiversity conservation, contributing to the protection of the habitat for rare animal species.
