On May 9, 2025, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment issued Official Letter No. 1863/BNNMT-TTTT to ministries, central agencies, and organizations, and People’s Committees of provinces and centrally-administered cities regarding the organization of activities in response to International Biodiversity Day 2025.

Accordingly, International Biodiversity Day 2025 (May 22) was launched by the United Nations with the theme “Harmony with nature and sustainable development,” emphasizing the need to simultaneously implement the goals of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF) of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) due to the organic relationship between “Harmony with nature and sustainable development.” “With nature” with the goal of comprehensive and sustainable development for all countries and communities worldwide.
In response to the 2025 International Day for Biodiversity, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment respectfully requests your agency to direct and coordinate the organization of the following contents:
- Strengthen communication, education and raise community awareness about nature conservation and biodiversity; diversify communication channels on biodiversity; integrate education and propaganda programs on biodiversity conservation in the school system,… Timely identify, propose and honor individuals, groups and communities with practical and effective models, activities and initiatives in biodiversity conservation.
- Continue to effectively implement the National Strategy on Biodiversity to 2030, with a vision to 2050; The National Biodiversity Conservation Plan for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, aims to achieve the goal of “restoring and ensuring the integrity and connectivity of biodiversity; conserving and sustainably utilizing biodiversity to contribute to socio-economic development in line with the green economy orientation and proactively adapting to climate change.”
- Develop plans, allocate funds, and mobilize diverse financial resources to diversify investment sources for biodiversity conservation; strengthen cooperation with domestic and international partners to attract and maximize financial support and investment for nature conservation and biodiversity; fairly and equitably share the benefits derived from genetic resources and develop sustainable livelihood models for communities.
- Promote scientific research on the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity; Applying science and technology in developing models for the conservation and sustainable use of species and genetic resources; investigating, monitoring, tracking, inspecting, and supervising biodiversity; conserving biodiversity to adapt to climate change.
- Strengthening cooperation in nature management and biodiversity, especially with countries sharing borders; promoting international cooperation in controlling the illegal trade of wild animals and plants; exchanging and learning from experiences with countries and international organizations on biodiversity.
