Recently, the Hanoi People’s Committee issued a document requesting the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and My Duc District People’s Committee to focus on implementing the tasks of preserving and protecting the Delacour’s langur in the area. Huong Son special-use forest.

Specifically, the city requested the Forest Protection Department (Department of Agriculture and Rural Development) to strengthen propaganda work to protect primate species, especially the white-rumped langur. Develop a plan to conserve and protect primates in general in the spirit of the Prime Minister’s direction in Decision No. 628/QD-TTg on approving an emergency action plan to conserve primates in Vietnam to 2025 with a vision to 2030.

The City People’s Committee also requested My Duc district to direct specialized departments and forested communes to strictly manage tourists visiting, traveling, and participating in festivals; Coordinate with relevant authorities to conduct patrols, promptly detect, prevent and strictly handle violations to protect primates in general, including white-rumped langurs.

According to recent investigation results of the Frankfurt Animal Protection Society (Germany), the rare species of white-rumped langur was discovered in Huong Son special-use forest (My Duc district). Currently, this species only exists in Vietnam with more than 200 individuals, distributed in 18 separate locations in the provinces of Ninh Binh, Ha Nam, Hoa Binh, Thanh Hoa.

Conservation of wild and migratory birds

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development coordinates with functional agencies and local authorities to manage markets, business locations, and bird trading (Hoang Hoa Tham, Yen Phuc…); Organize inspection of business households, promptly detect, prevent and strictly handle hunting and trapping of wild birds brought to markets.

Particularly in Ba Vi district – one of the places with habitats considered to be the best for the growth and development of wild and migratory birds in the city today, the city requires the district to coordinate with the authorities. Strengthen inspection and supervision to prevent mechanical impacts on the Van Lang middle yard.
