According to information from the Agriculture and Environment Newspaper, the Hanoi People’s Committee (UBND TP Hanoi) is implementing the project “Strengthening regional linkages in the conservation, exploitation, and sustainable use of biodiversity resources” in nature reserves and heritage sites in the Red River Delta region, with a focus on the Huong Son Nature Reserve and the Van Lang sandbank. This is a concrete step in implementing the directives in Notice No. 64/TB-VP of the Government Office and Official Letter No. 1164/BNNMT-BTĐD of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment.
According to Official Letter No. 3848/UBND-NNMT, the city assigns the Department of Agriculture and Environment to lead conservation activities, while also promoting the dissemination of laws on biodiversity in the area. Relevant units are responsible for compiling and reporting implementation results to promptly adjust policies and implementation plans. One of the key tasks of the project is to protect and restore the habitat in the Huong Son Nature Reserve – home to the white-buttocked langur, a rare and endangered primate species. In addition, Hanoi will focus on managing and protecting the ecosystem of wild and migratory birds in the Van Lang mid-river area – a location that plays a crucial ecological role in seasonal migration routes.
Besides nature conservation, the project also emphasizes the goal of developing sustainable ecotourism. The Hanoi Department of Tourism is tasked with developing models for linking products between nature reserves and natural heritage sites in the region. The focus is on exploiting ecotourism in Ba Vi National Park and developing community tourism associated with agriculture, culture, and spirituality in the Huong Son Scenic Landscape Complex (Huong Pagoda), Huong Son commune. The project’s implementation phase spans from 2026 to 2030, aiming for a green development model where conservation and economic development are inseparable, particularly in the fields of tourism, services, and sustainable agriculture. The Hanoi People’s Committee requires relevant departments, agencies, and localities to coordinate closely and proactively carry out their functions to effectively promote regional linkages and long-term biological conservation.
