Workshop “Indicators of forest continuity, biodiversity and threats in 21 special-use and protection forests in Vietnam”
On October 25, 2023, in Hanoi, the Workshop “Indicators of forest continuity, biodiversity and threats in 21 special-use and protection forests of Vietnam” took place, this is operating under the Biodiversity Conservation Component, Sustainable Forest Management and Biodiversity Conservation (VFBC) Project funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), by WWF-Vietnam Nam cooperates with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to implement.

Survey results show that at the landscape level, these forests have experienced high levels of population decline and many species are (possibly) locally extinct. However, some rare, threatened and endemic species still appear in the Project’s research areas. Probability of presence results provide baseline data for monitoring the impact of conservation actions to prevent and reduce threats. In addition, the Project has established the foundation for a long-term biodiversity monitoring program for terrestrial mammals and birds in Vietnam and demonstrated that camera trapping can be incorporated into policies. national (e.g. Species Conservation Action Plan).
