International Festival for the Preservation and Development of Traditional Craft Villages to be Organized in 2025

The People’s Committee of Hanoi City (UBND Hanoi) in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment issued Joint Plan No. 185/KHLT-UBND-BNNMT dated July 12, 2025, on the coordination of the International Festival for the Preservation and Development of Traditional Craft Villages in 2025. Accordingly, the event will take place from November 14 to 18, 2025, at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel historical site, along with six side activities lasting from September to November at various locations in Hanoi City, with the participation of businesses, craft villages, artisans, and outstanding skilled craftsmen from Vietnam and abroad.

The festival aims to preserve and promote the cultural values ​​of traditional craft villages; honor artisans; and attract young workers. Simultaneously, the event aims to promote handicraft products, develop tourism in craft villages, and strengthen international cooperation. The main program includes a ceremony of offering incense, an opening ceremony, a product exhibition space, and the reception of international delegations. Side activities include: seminars, handicraft product competitions, a craft village fair, investment promotion, the Kokan International Festival (Uzbekistan), and activities at traditional craft villages. This is also a practical activity to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the traditional day of the Agriculture and Environment sector (November 14, 1945 – November 14, 2025), the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution, National Day on September 2nd, and other major national holidays in 2025.

The Hanoi People’s Committee plays the leading role in organizing the event, assigning the Department of Agriculture and Environment as the permanent agency, responsible for overall planning, script development, inviting artisans and businesses to participate, and organizing the incense offering ceremony, decorations, and publicity. Other departments also coordinate in handling logistics, security, health, arts, and tourism.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, in coordination with the People’s Committee of the City, organizes and directs its subordinate units: the Department of Cooperative Economics and Rural Development is the permanent agency and the central coordinating body for all activities of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment in organizing the Festival, competitions, and investment promotion; the Ministry’s Office: issues invitations; the Department of International Cooperation: invites international organizations and delegates; the Department of Organization and Personnel: awards prizes; the Department of Quality, Processing and Market Development: allocates funding; the Agricultural Trade Promotion Center: organizes communication, competitions, and the opening ceremony. The Agriculture and Environment Newspaper: takes the lead in communication.

Requesting cooperation from international organizations and associations: the World Craft Council – Asia Pacific Region invites international delegates to participate in the Festival; the Vietnam Handicraft Export Association invites international businesses to support the organization; The Vietnam Handicraft Village Association is encouraging its members to participate; the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is developing handicraft village tourism tours; and the Ministry of Industry and Trade is promoting trade and connecting businesses. This year’s festival promises to become a major cultural and tourism highlight of Hanoi and the whole country in 2025, contributing to promoting the image of Vietnamese handicraft villages to the world.
