Trang chủThe People’s Committee of Khanh Hoa province has just issued Official Letter No. 1442/UBND-KT dated February 7, 2025, on responding to World Wetlands Day 2025 to implement Document No. 559/BTNMT-BTĐD dated January 23, 2025, of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.
Accordingly, in Official Letter No. 559/BTNMT-BTĐD, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment requests the People’s Committees of provinces and centrally-administered cities to: (i) Strengthen communication, education, and raise awareness about the value and importance of wetlands to human and natural life, and the threats affecting wetland ecosystems; (i) Integrating content on wetland protection and sustainable use into educational programs, while calling on all citizens to commit to protecting and sustainably using wetlands, strengthening management, and restoring degraded wetland ecosystems; (ii) Promoting the implementation of legal regulations on wetland conservation and sustainable use; continuing to effectively implement the National Action Plan on Wetlands Conservation and Sustainable Use for the period 2021-2030 and integrating content on protecting wetland values, managing, restoring, and sustainably using wetlands into development programs, plans, and projects of ministries, sectors, and localities; (iii) Promoting nature-based, community-based, and ecosystem-based solutions to protect wetland ecosystems. Replicating effective wetland use models, especially those in important wetland areas; (iii) Promote environmental protection initiatives, nature conservation and biodiversity, and climate change adaptation and mitigation measures for wetlands; (iv) Develop and operate a database system and mechanism for sharing, exchanging, and managing information on wetlands; strengthen the capacity of staff; promote monitoring of the implementation of laws on the protection and sustainable use of wetlands; (v) Mobilize and diversify resources; strengthen international cooperation and promote community participation to support and enhance the effectiveness of wetland management and conservation in the province.
The People’s Committee of Khanh Hoa province assigns the Department of Natural Resources and Environment to take the lead, in coordination with relevant agencies and localities and units of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, in implementing the Ministry’s requirements; and promptly report and advise on matters within the authority of the People’s Committee of Khanh Hoa province. The results of activities organized in response to World Wetlands Day 2025 in the province will be compiled and reported to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the Ramsar Convention Secretariat, and the Provincial People’s Committee in the fourth quarter of 2025.
