At the 6th ASEAN Heritage Gardens Conference taking place in Pakse city, Lao People’s Democratic Republic from October 21 to 24, 2019, Vu Quang National Park and 3 other representatives of Vietnam are National Parks. Bidoup Nui Ba National Park (Lam Dong), Lo Go – Xa Mat National Park (Tay Ninh) and Ngoc Linh Nature Reserve (Kon Tum) were awarded AHP titles, bringing the total number of AHP areas in Vietnam to number 10 out of 49 AHPs in the ASEAN region and Vietnam has become the country with the most AHPs in ASEAN (accounting for 1/5 of the AHPs in the region). This event demonstrated Vietnam’s efforts in biodiversity conservation, contributed to enhancing Vietnam’s role and reputation in the region, and was one of the 10 outstanding events of the Finance industry. Resources and Environment in 2019. With this event, Vietnam has also completed the goal of the National Strategy on Biodiversity to 2020, with a vision to 2030 of being awarded the AHP title.

Vu Quang National Park is located in an important ecological region, with high priority in preserving biodiversity of the entire Truong Son range, within the administrative territory of 3 districts Vu Quang, Huong Khe and Huong Son. Here, it is characterized by a number of unique ecosystems such as: High mountain lake ecosystem; High mountain rain forest ecosystem; The dwarf forest ecosystem… is the habitat of thousands of species of animals and plants, including many endangered and rare species that need to be prioritized for conservation with 131/1,829 species of higher plants, 46/94 species of mammals. , 38/315 bird species and 22/89 amphibian and reptile species are in the 2007 Vietnam red list, the IUCN red list and Decree No. 06/2019/ND-CP dated January 22, 2019 of the government. on “Management of endangered, precious and rare forest plants and animals and implementation of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora”. In Vu Quang National Park, there are many species endemic to both Vietnam and Laos. Among them are typical and rare species such as: Saola  (Pseudoryx nhitinhensis) , Big muntjac  (Megamuntiacus vuquangensis) , Striped rabbit  (Nesolagus timinski) , Brown-shanked douc  (Pygathrix nemaeus) , White-cheeked gibbon  (Hylobates leucogenys ) ) …. Vu Quang National Park, along with the Nakai-Nam Theun National Protected Area of ​​Laos, is the largest conservation area, with the remaining natural ecosystem close to the North Indochina region. Vu Quang National Park is highly recognized by the Government and international organizations for its value and potential for conservation for Vietnam, the region and the world. In addition, this is also a potential eco-tourism address, as well as a very important role for the buffer zone community.
