On November 2, 2012, the Prime Minister signed Decision No. 1649/QD-TTg on the establishment of the Special Landscape Protection Forest of the Historical Relic of President Ho Chi Minh in Da Chong, Ba Vi, Hanoi (referred to as K9 Forest) within the system of special-use forests in Vietnam.

K9 forest has an area of ​​234 hectares located in 3 communes: Ba Trai, Minh Quang, Thuan My, Ba Vi district, Hanoi city.

The establishment of K9 Forest aims to preserve and enhance the landscape and environmental values ​​of the Ho Chi Minh Relic Site, contributing to promoting propaganda and education, studying the ideology and morality of President Ho Chi Minh and raising awareness of protecting historical relics, nature, environment and biodiversity for the community.

The K9 forest is planned into 4 functional sub-zones: Sub-zone for preserving intact historical relics – military training with an area of ​​66.62 hectares; Landscape forest for protecting relics, area of ​​81.61 hectares; Landscape forest combined with eco-tourism and resort with an area of ​​71.66 hectares and Administrative area with an area of ​​14.11 hectares.

The Head of the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Management Board approves and organizes the implementation of the K9 Forest Investment Component Projects according to regulations.

K9 Relic Site is a place of special historical significance, a place associated with the activities of President Ho Chi Minh during his lifetime (1957-1969); a place where President Ho Chi Minh’s body was preserved during the war years (1969-1975).
