Ba Mountain Landscape Protection Area with boundaries in the communes of Cat Nhon, Cat Tuong, Cat Trinh, Cat Hanh, Cat Tai, Cat Minh, Cat Khanh, Cat Thanh, Cat Hai, Cat Hung of Phu Cat district, Binh Dinh. The purpose is to protect the landscape of 22 historical relics and cultural heritages with scientific, educational and eco-tourism values.
Ba Mountain in Phu Cat District is a place with very beautiful natural scenery. During the resistance war against the US, this place marked the spirit of overcoming hardships and fighting steadfastly of the cadres, soldiers and people of Binh Dinh.
From the center of Quy Nhon City, follow the coastal route about 30 km through Nhon Hoi Economic Zone to reach the Nui Ba Revolutionary Relic Site (Phuong Phi village, Cat Tien commune, Phu Cat district). The relic site was built halfway up the mountain, on a total area of 18,620 m2. Standing under the Nui Ba Victory Monument in the relic site (18 m high, including a group of statues depicting the image of liberation soldiers) built of reinforced concrete and copper-coated, you will see that this place, in addition to contributing to the education of revolutionary historical traditions, is also a wonderful sightseeing spot with both mountains, forests and blue sea within sight.
This season, bougainvillea and frangipani flowers are in full bloom, decorating the grounds of the relic. Many stone benches are conveniently placed for visitors to sit and rest. It is even more interesting when right below your feet is a winding asphalt road along the pass, below is a beautiful beach, and looking further out you can see Thi Nai bridge and high-rise buildings in Quy Nhon city.
800 m above sea level, Ba Mountain is the highest and largest mountain range in the Binh Dinh plain. There are many individual destinations for you to explore. On the mountain, there are 66 peaks of different heights, giant rocks of various shapes, many forests, streams, winding and folding points of the hillsides creating rugged terrain… During the resistance war against the US, Ba Mountain held an important strategic position in the province, especially for the Eastern region.
In the historical and scenic relics records, the Ba Mountain base area was ranked as a national relic since 1994, with 22 relic sites on the mountain in the communes of Cat Tien, Cat Hai, Cat Tai, Cat Hung, Cat Hanh, Cat Thanh of Phu Cat district. To be able to visit many relic sites in the same time frame, you should ask experienced locals to guide you. Please be forewarned that you will have to climb passes, cross forests, and wade through streams quite a lot, but in return, you will pass through many locations and routes with very beautiful scenery, especially when climbing high rocks to see the whole view of hills, seas, and fields.
Ba Mountain is a very suitable destination for organizing excursions and picnics, especially for union members and young people. If you go for this purpose and if you don’t have much time, you can visit 2 main destinations, including: Da Chet Cave relic (Phuong Thai village, Cat Tien commune) is made up of large blocks of stone stacked on top of each other to create many caves (40 m long, 4 m high, 12 m deep into the mountain), standing on the cave you can see Quy Nhon City in the distance, the South of An Nhon Town, the East of Tuy Phuoc District and the surrounding area has beautiful scenery. Here, in 1961, An Nhon District Party Committee gathered former party members of the two branches of Dap Da and Nhon Hau to establish a new branch to unify activities… The remaining relic is Ong Nui Pagoda (Linh Phong) – which attracts a large number of tourists, but few people know that this place used to serve revolutionary activities. The cave is located on a stream northwest of the pagoda and was chosen by An Nhon District Party Committee as a base in 1966. Afterwards, Quy Nhon City Party Committee continued to use the cave as a secret and financial area…
