Ba Den Mountain Historical Cultural Area was established under Decision No. 194/CT, dated August 9, 1986 of the Chairman of the Council of Ministers, with an area of nearly 2,000 hectares (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development 1997).
– Ba Den Mountain: located in Ninh Son commune, 11km northeast of Tay Ninh town, 110km from Ho Chi Minh City. The mountain is located in a complex of historical and cultural relics famous for its charming scenery and many legends in Tay Ninh. Ba Den Mountain not only attracts tourists by its majestic mountain scenery, beautiful pagodas and caves, and is associated with the legendary folk story of the female saint Ly Thi Thien Huong (aka Ba Den) during the Tay Son period. Ba Den Mountain is also an inviolable revolutionary base, where many heroic relics are preserved through two resistance wars to save the country of the army and people of Tay Ninh. With the highest peak in the South, Ba Den Mountain became a particularly important strategic position, so during the two resistance wars for national liberation (1946 – 1975), revolutionary and counter-revolutionary forces fiercely fought for this mountain. There are many caves here, which used to be the base of our army and people during the resistance war. Kim Quang Cave and Cay Da Cave were the bases of the District Party Committee and the Toa Thanh District Military Command (now Hoa Thanh District). The East of the mountain is the Duong Minh Chau District Party Committee base. This place preserves many achievements of the liberation army, both fighting and protecting the base, and there are many units clinging to the mountain to fight the enemy such as: Logistics Group 32, Reconnaissance Battalion 47… In particular, the 7 Heroic Unit fought for 15 years in the mountain. On January 21, 1989, the Ministry of Culture and Information (VHTT) (now the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) recognized Ba Den Mountain as a national historical – cultural relic and scenic spot according to Decision No. 100/VH-QD. Today, Ba Den Mountain is not only a place for sightseeing and worship but also a mark of the old battlefield, a place that preserves memories of a glorious and heroic time of our army and people.
