Nam Nung Nature Reserve (NR) belongs to the administrative boundaries of 07 communes: Nam Nung, Nam N’Dir, Duc Xuyen (Krong No district), Quang Son commune (Dak Glong district) and Dak Hoa, Dak Mol, Nam N’Jang communes (Dak Song district).

Geographic coordinates are in the coordinate box 12 o 12’00” to 12 o 20’00” North latitude, 107 o 44’00” to 107 o 53’00” East longitude. With an area of ​​12,307 hectares, Nam Nung Nature Reserve is a complex with rich economic tourism potential with natural forests, scenic spots and historical relics.

Most of the area of ​​the area is still primeval forest with many species of large trees, mainly black star, purple lagerstroemia, oil… Currently, there are large black star trees here, with a diameter of meters at the base and tens of meters high. The highest peak here and also of the whole Southern Central Highlands is Nam Nung (buffalo horn mountain) with an altitude of 1,500 m. Therefore, Nam Nung is considered the “roof” of Dak Nong with the northern roof leaning towards the Serepok River and the southern roof leaning towards the upper Dong Nai River. From the top of Nam Nung, there are streams of water pouring down, through the stone steps to form waterfalls with many steps, so there are Three-level waterfalls and Seven-level waterfalls depending on the number of steps on the water stream.

Located in Nam Nung Nature Reserve, there is also a National Historical Relic, the B4 Resistance Base – Inter-zone IV, the location where the Quang Duc Provincial Party Committee (formerly) stood during the two resistance wars against French colonialism and American imperialism; a strategic corridor bringing human and material resources from the rear to the front line; a “hinge” connecting the Central Highlands with the Southeast, the North with the South; a place to bring and welcome Central leaders to direct the Spring 1975 offensive and uprising… This is also the place that marks many glorious feats, recording the heroic history of the ethnic people of the Southern Central Highlands under the leadership of National Hero N’Trang Long, of N’Trang Guh… in the resistance wars against the invasion of French colonialism in the early years of the 20th century.

For many years, Nam Nung Nature Reserve has been an eco-cultural-historical tourist destination attracting visitors, especially from Ho Chi Minh City. Every March, this is the place for local youth to organize “Returning to the Source” with diverse and meaningful activities such as mountain climbing competitions, implementing environmental protection programs, responding to “Earth Hour”, doing social charity work for local people, etc.
