Located in Ba Be National Park, Bac Kan with a water surface area of ​​up to 650 hectares, Ba Be is the largest natural freshwater lake in Vietnam and one of the 100 largest natural freshwater lakes in the world. Ba Be Lake includes three interconnected lakes, Pe Lam, Pe Lu, and Pe Leng, formed at the end of the Cambrian period, more than 200 million years ago.

Located on a limestone area at an altitude of more than 145m above sea level, with an average depth of 20-25m, Ba Be Lake is truly a unique submerged landscape, home to many precious flora and fauna species. rare, including more than 200 species of birds, 106 species of fish – the most abundant in the system of lakes and lakes in our country. This “jewel among the vast” is also where the endemic bamboo species has slender branches that grow upside down on the cliffs along the lake, creating extremely unique natural curtains. In addition, the orchid system in the cliffs and forests along Ba Be Lake is also considered to have the most endemic and diverse species in Vietnam.
