According to Tien Phong Newspaper, on August 6, 2025, the Southern Quang Tri Special-Use Forest Management Board, in coordination with sub-district forest rangers, discovered the natural distribution of the rare medicinal plant Paracelspur (also known as Paris polyphylla Smith) in sub-district 652A, Bac Huong Hoa Nature Reserve during a patrol.

Paracelspur is a perennial herbaceous plant, 0.3-1 m tall, characterized by a whorl of seven leaves growing evenly around the stem and a single flower at the apex. The fruit is a berry, turning dark purple when ripe. This species grows under the canopy of humid evergreen forests, playing an important role in balancing the forest ecosystem, reflecting the pristine nature and stability of the vegetation. According to the Vietnamese Red Book, the plant Thất diệp nhất chi hoa (also known as Thất diệp nhất chi hoa) is classified as “Endangered” (EN) and belongs to group IIA. Its number in the wild is currently severely declining, and its germination rate is low. In traditional medicine, the rhizome of Thất diệp nhất chi hoa has long been used by local communities for various purposes.
The Nam Quang Tri Special Use Forest is home to many rich natural forest and stream ecosystems, providing habitats for thousands of rare and precious plant and animal species. The discovery of Thất diệp nhất chi hoa here not only confirms the richness of biodiversity but also opens a scientific basis for research on propagation and long-term conservation; it needs to be preserved and developed for today and future generations.
Mr. Truong Quang Trung, Director of the Southern Quang Tri Special Forest Management Board, said that the unit will continue to strengthen patrols, coordinate with local authorities and functional forces to prevent illegal logging, and at the same time promote propaganda and raise community awareness in protecting this tree species.
