Quang Tri Province intensifies law enforcement, propaganda, and dissemination of biodiversity conservation and wildlife protection efforts

On December 1, 2025, the People’s Committee of Quang Tri Province issued Official Letter No. 2161/UBND-KT to provincial departments, agencies, organizations, and associations, as well as the People’s Committees of communes, wards, and special zones, to strengthen law enforcement, propaganda, and dissemination of biodiversity conservation and wildlife protection efforts.

This aims to further promote the implementation of the 2008 Biodiversity Law; Decision No. 1623/QD-TTg dated December 27, 2022, of the Prime Minister approving the Project “Strengthening the prevention and control of biodiversity crimes until 2030, with a vision to 2050”; and Directive No. 29/CT-TTg dated July 23, 2020, of the Prime Minister on some urgent solutions for managing wild animal species. In accordance with Prime Minister’s Directive 42/CT-TTg dated December 8, 2020, on strengthening the management and control of invasive alien species; Prime Minister’s Directive 04/CT-TTg dated May 17, 2022, on urgent tasks and solutions for the conservation of wild and migratory birds in Vietnam; and in implementation of Official Letter No. 9231/BNNMT-BTTN dated November 18, 2025, from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment on promoting law enforcement, dissemination of information on biodiversity conservation and wildlife protection, the Provincial People’s Committee requests that officials, civil servants, employees, and citizens refrain from participating in the illegal hunting, catching, buying, selling, transporting, slaughtering, consuming, storing, or advertising of wild animals and migratory birds; refrain from raising, cultivating, buying, selling, or releasing invasive alien species; and refrain from purchasing individual birds for release that are invasive alien species. Strengthen inspection and control of hunting, trading, transporting, and consuming wild animals and wild birds during migration season, especially in areas where migratory birds appear; control and prevent the trading, transporting, and release of invasive alien species and strictly punish violations.

The Department of Agriculture and Environment, the Department of Industry and Trade, the Provincial Police, the Provincial Military Command, and the Customs Sub-department of Region IX, based on their respective areas of responsibility, shall preside over or coordinate with relevant agencies to strengthen inspections and checks of restaurants, wildlife breeding and trading establishments, wildlife markets, key goods transportation routes, and ringleaders involved in hunting, trapping, trading, transporting, and consuming wildlife and migratory birds; prevent illegal hunting, trapping, trading, transporting, and consuming; and strictly handle violations of laws on the protection of wildlife, plants, and migratory birds in Vietnam; and implement measures to prevent diseases originating from wildlife and migratory birds.

The provincial press and radio/television shall increase broadcasting time, create special pages, reports, programs, and news bulletins to disseminate laws on biodiversity conservation, control of invasive alien species, and protection of endangered, rare, and precious wildlife species.
