The most recent highlight is the announcement by scientists of the discovery of the Pink Veined Anoectochilus orchid (Anoectochilus roxburghii). This orchid belongs to the genus Anoectochilus, one of the most valuable medicinal orchid groups in Asia. According to Mr. Le Thanh Huu, Deputy Director of the Reserve, the Pink Veined Anoectochilus orchid is impressive not only for its aesthetic beauty with its dark green leaves dotted with iridescent veins but also for its outstanding traditional medicine value.

The discovery of the Pink Jade Orchid in Pu Luong, a species currently classified as critically endangered (EN) in the Vietnamese Red Book (2024) and listed in Appendix IIA of the CITES Convention, requires strict control in international trade and is scattered in some humid mountainous areas, further increasing the responsibility for rigorous conservation. Beyond its flora, Pu Luong is also home to a completely new mammal species: the Darwin’s mole (Euroscaptor Darwini). The presence of this mole confirms the uniqueness and richness of the fauna here.

These successive discoveries underscore Pu Luong’s crucial ecological role in maintaining the biodiversity corridor connecting the Northwest and North Central regions of Vietnam. Besides its research and conservation value, Pu Luong also attracts tourists, especially international visitors, with its majestic natural landscapes, making it an ideal destination for those who love exploring wild nature.
