The egrets have been present in the area for about a week. They usually come to the rice fields after the harvest in the afternoon to forage, and then fly away after a few hours. Egrets (scientific name Anastomus oscitans) are rare animals listed in the Red Book of Vietnam, belonging to the Heron family, Crane order, and their natural habitat is usually mangrove forests.
To protect the endangered species, Ia Mrơn commune has requested that all departments and organizations work together to protect the egret flock. Accordingly, the commune People’s Committee has directed patrol forces to protect the egrets, informing residents that hunting rare animals is a violation of the law. They have also mobilized the people to protect the egrets, disseminating information on policies and laws regarding the protection of endangered animals listed in the Red Book. Party members are urged to strictly adhere to policies and laws on the protection of endangered animals listed in the Red Book. Residents are required to comply with the protection of rare animals, refraining from hunting in any form; hunting is a violation of the law and may result in criminal prosecution.
Previously, authorities recorded the appearance of egret flocks in the fields of Hue City and Quang Tri Province. The appearance of the egrets shows that the ecological environment in these localities still retains its pristine nature, suitable for migratory birds to live and feed.
