Trang chủWorld Wetlands Day on 2 February 2025 has been launched by the Secretariat of the Ramsar Convention under the theme “Protecting Wetlands for Our Common Future.” This theme will also serve as the theme of the 15th Meeting of the Conference of the Contracting Parties to the Ramsar Convention (COP15) in 2025.
The theme for this year aims to emphasize the collective efforts of communities in protecting wetland ecosystems, moving toward a world where everyone can continue to benefit from the life-sustaining services provided by wetlands.
To respond to World Wetlands Day 2025, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of Vietnam respectfully requests relevant agencies to consider directing and coordinating the implementation of the following activities:
- Strengthen communication, education, and awareness-raising on the values and importance of wetlands for human life and nature, as well as threats affecting wetland ecosystems; integrate wetland protection and sustainable use into educational programs; and encourage all citizens to commit to protecting and sustainably using wetlands while enhancing management and restoration of degraded wetland ecosystems.
- Promote the implementation of legal regulations on wetland conservation and sustainable use; continue to effectively implement the National Action Plan for the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Wetlands for the period 2021–2030; and integrate wetland value protection, management, restoration, and sustainable use into development programs, strategies, plans, and projects of ministries, sectors, and localities.
- Strengthen nature-based, community-based, and ecosystem-based approaches to protect wetland ecosystems. Replicate effective wetland use models, particularly in important wetland areas; promote initiatives on environmental protection, nature conservation, and biodiversity conservation; and implement climate change adaptation and mitigation measures in wetland areas.
- Develop and operate a database system and mechanisms for sharing, exchanging, and managing wetland information; strengthen the capacity of officials; and enhance monitoring of the implementation of laws on the protection and sustainable use of wetlands.
- Mobilize and diversify resources; strengthen international cooperation and encourage community participation to support and enhance the effectiveness of wetland management and conservation.

After completing activities responding to World Wetlands Day 2025, agencies are requested to send information on the implementation results to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of Vietnam for consolidation and reporting to the Secretariat of the Ramsar Convention.
