Nui Chua National Park (VQGNC) was established in July 2003, as a result of the transformation from a Nui Chua dry forest nature reserve in 1998 and the Coastal Protection Forest Management Board (established in August 1993). The national park is located in two districts; Ninh Hai and Thuan Bac, Ninh Thuan province.

Nui Chua National Park borders Khanh Hoa province to the north, the East Sea to the east, provincial road 702 to the south and national highway 1A to the west. According to Decision No. 134/2003/QD-CP dated July 9, 2003 of the Prime Minister, Nui Chua National Park includes a natural complex (forest and sea) of 29,865 hectares, of which the land area is 22,513 hectares, 7,352 hectares of sea and 7,350 hectares including the entire area inside the buffer zone.

Human resources

Nui Chua National Park is located in Ninh Hai and Thuan Bac districts. It is home to ethnic groups such as Kinh, Raglay, Cham, Hoa, etc. The diversity of ethnic groups and cultures of the ethnic groups living in the buffer zone is also one of the outstanding features in the assessment of the human resources of the National Park. It meets the needs of learning about the unique cultural features, history and long-standing traditions of the ethnic groups living in the buffer zone.

In addition, there are also coastal fishing villages with annual festivals such as boat racing, singing, whale worshiping…

Nui Chua National Park is also a place to preserve the glorious achievements of our ancestors in the two resistance wars against France and America with the remaining relics in the CK19 war zone from the period of resistance against France, to the period of resistance against America, this is one of the hiding places of the military command directing the war, currently there are still relics left such as trenches, Hoang Cam kitchen, the beaches here are the place to gather weapons and military equipment from the North to support the battlefield in the South.

Nui Chua National Park is a structure of natural landscapes distributed on a mountain complex located close to the coast, creating many beautiful landscapes in the South Central Coast region. It is the only standard model of the typical and unique dry forest ecosystem of Vietnam and Southeast Asia. In addition to the semi-arid ecosystem, Nui Chua National Park also has other types of ecosystems such as evergreen forest ecosystem, grassland ecosystem… with diverse flora and species composition. Including 6 types of forests distributed from low to high. Natural area 22,513 ha. There are 306 species of animals, including 72 species of mammals, 181 species of birds and 53 species of amphibians and reptiles. Regarding plants, there are 1054 species. Nui Chua is also the habitat of the Black-shanked Douc, one of the rare primate species listed in the Red Book that is being preserved and developed.

Nui Chua is a national park with a marine reserve of 7,352 hectares. Nui Chua sea also attracts tourists because it owns a beautiful underwater world, with a very rich and diverse coral reef, with a coral area of ​​2,330 hectares (Nguyen Van Long Institute of Oceanography) has recorded 350 species of coral, including 307 species of hard corals forming reefs belonging to 59 genera, 15 families. In particular, 46 new species have been recorded and classified for Vietnam, there are 188 species of seaweed belonging to 4 phyla, 86 genera and 32 families, of which the Rhodophyta red seaweed has the most abundant number of species (79 species).

The coastline is more than 40 km long, adjacent to dry forests, with 18 beaches with unique forest and sea landscapes and still wild such as: Binh Tien, Vinh Hy, Ba Dien Beach, Cha La Beach, Hom Beach, Thit Beach, Thai An…

Nui Chua National Park is one of the few remaining turtle breeding and rearing grounds in the coastal areas of mainland Vietnam. Several small sandy beaches including Bai Hom and Bai Thit are nesting sites for sea turtles.

The beaches of Nui Chua National Park are among the most important continental nesting grounds for regionally and globally endangered sea turtles such as Green Turtle (Chelonia mydas), Hawksbill Turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata) and Loggerhead Turtle (Caretta caretta).

The phenomenon of the Rock fields in Nui Chua National Park is a unique highlight of nature, the landscapes that nature has bestowed upon this place are extremely unique natural phenomena. The fields of rocks with strange shapes can satisfy everyone’s rich imagination, the giant rocks standing on a smaller rock as a defiant challenge to time, challenging the sand winds, sea storms to stand firmly here for thousands of years. Besides, there is the pristine, pristine dry forest habitat that is the most typical and unique in Vietnam, from above looking down at the vast ocean, enjoying the fresh breezes filled with the breath of the sea, in the distance the towering misty mountains seem to invite and challenge the steps of those who want to explore and conquer.
