Ta Dung Nature Reserve (NR) was established under Decision No. 511/QD-UBND dated April 12, 2013 of Dak Nong Provincial People’s Committee. On February 8, 2018, according to Decision No. 185/QD-TTg, Ta Dung NR was renamed Ta Dung National Park.

Total natural area of ​​Ta Dung National Park: 20,937.7 ha. The buffer zone of Ta Dung National Park has an area of ​​24,582.91 ha, located in 7 communes bordering the national park, belonging to Dak Nong and Lam Dong provinces.

Located in the upstream area of ​​Dong Nai River, the water storage of the reservoir of Dong Nai 3 Hydropower Project in Ta Dung National Park with a lake surface area of ​​3,400 – 5,700 hectares has created a lake – island ecosystem with more than 47 large and small islands and peninsulas, with extremely unique landscapes.

In addition, Ta Dung National Park is located in the mountain range between the two plateaus of Dak Nong and Di Linh, so the climate is tropical highland, cool all year round, suitable for the development of ecotourism and resorts. In order to exploit the potential and attract tourists, since 2014, the People’s Committee of Dak Nong province has approved the Ta Dung Ecotourism – Cultural Area Planning, with a total investment of 174 billion VND. The planning orientation of routes, points and tourism products is very diverse, including entertainment on lakes, islands, waterfall clusters under the forest canopy; sports tourism – water adventure, forest conservation adventure, picnic; ecotourism combined with resort; religious tourism…

Deep in Ta Dung National Park, there are many cool streams. Those are Dak N’teng and Dak P’lao streams flowing through rocks, creating majestic waterfalls such as Seven-storey waterfall, Sun waterfall, Dak Plao waterfall… The cool water with ancient trees providing shade to the sky, along with flat natural rocks is an ideal stop to rest. From above, visitors can also see villages in Dak P’lao, Dak Som, or Dak R’mang communes looming in the white clouds.

For many years, Ta Dung National Park has been considered one of the areas that retains a large green color, with a large forest vegetation layer covering up to 85% of the core area. In addition, Ta Dung National Park is also the intersection of rich ecosystems and habitats that have created conditions for many species of animals and plants to reside, grow and develop. Currently, Ta Dung National Park has 574 species of animals and more than 1,400 species of plants, including many rare and endangered species such as golden deer, tigers, leopards, reticulated pythons, etc.
