Vu Quang National Park (also known as Vu Quang National Park) is a national park in Ha Tinh province, home to many endemic species found only in Vietnam. Established under Decision No. 102/2002/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam on July 30, 2002. This is the national park with the Vu Quang muntjac ( Muntiacus vuquangensis ), a rare muntjac species named after this national park.

Vu Quang National Park is located in an important ecological area, with high priority in biodiversity conservation of the entire Truong Son range, under the administrative area of ​​3 districts Vu Quang, Huong Khe and Huong Son, Ha Tinh province, with a total area assigned to manage about 57,000 hectares, of which nearly 53,000 hectares are natural forests. Here, it is characterized by a number of unique ecosystems such as: Lake ecosystem on high mountains; Rain forest ecosystem on high mountains; The dwarf forest ecosystem… is the habitat of thousands of species of animals and plants, including many endangered and rare species that need to be prioritized for conservation, with 131/1,829 species of higher plants, 46/94 species of mammals, 38/315 species of birds and 22/89 species of amphibians and reptiles listed in the Vietnam Red Book 2007, the IUCN Red Book and Decree No. 06/2019/ND-CP dated January 22, 2019 of the Government on “Management of endangered, precious and rare forest plants and animals and implementation of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora”. Vu Quang National Park has the presence of many species endemic to both Vietnam and Laos. Among them are typical and rare species such as: Saola  (Pseudoryx nghetinhensis) , Large-antlered muntjac  (Megamuntiacus vuquangensis) , Striped rabbit  (Nesolagus timinski) , Brown-shanked douc langur  (Pygathrix nemaeus) , White-cheeked crested gibbon  (Hylobates leucogenys) …. Vu Quang National Park, together with Nakai-Nam Theun National Protected Area of ​​Laos, is the largest conservation area with the remaining natural ecosystem close to the North Indochina region. Vu Quang National Park is highly appreciated by the Government and international organizations for its value and potential for conservation for Vietnam, the region and the world. In addition, this is also a potential ecotourism destination, as well as playing a very important role for the buffer zone community.

At the 6th ASEAN Heritage Parks Conference held in Pakse City, Lao People’s Democratic Republic from October 21 to 24, 2019, Vu Quang National Park and 3 other representatives of Vietnam, namely Bidoup Nui Ba National Park (Lam Dong), Lo Go – Xa Mat National Park (Tay Ninh) and Ngoc Linh Nature Reserve (Kon Tum) were awarded the AHP title, bringing the total number of AHPs in Vietnam to 10 out of 49 AHPs in the ASEAN region and Vietnam became the country with the most AHPs in ASEAN (accounting for 1/5 of the AHPs in the region).
