Mo Re-Bac Son Nature Reserve is located in Bac Son district, Lang Son province. The terrain here is characterized by limestone mountains, reaching an altitude of about 650 m. This area is located in the headwaters of the Bac Giang River. According to the list of special-use forests planned until 2010, built by the Forest Protection Department – Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the main conservation values in the area are forests on limestone mountains and Musk Deer Moschus berezovskii. According to Le Xuan Canh and Do Anh Dung (2000), the Black Gibbon Hylobates concolor used to be present in Bac Son district, but is now probably extinct.
