Hon Khoai island cluster consists of 5 small islands, Hon Khoai is the largest island with an area of ​​561 hectares located at 80 24’30 ” North latitude and 1040 48’30 ” to 1040 55’32 ” East longitude, 18 km from the east coast of Ca Mau province, located to the southwest of Ngoc Hien district, belonging to the administrative boundary of Tan An commune, Ngoc Hien district, Ca Mau province.

Hon Khoai is a rocky island, with hills and forests that are almost intact with many precious woods, a rich flora and fauna, and wild natural scenery. The soil on the island is red-yellow and red-yellow feralit soil growing on granite. The flora on Hon Khoai is rich with tropical forest trees and mangrove trees, which have very high economic value, including timber trees such as Lagerstroemia, Chieu Lieu, Dau Rai, Spoon, Lim, Tram Mao, Tram Trang; medicinal trees such as Dragon’s Blood, Yam, Acanthopanax, Cinnamon; fruit trees such as Mango, Tangerine, Coconut… Up to now, the flora and fauna on Hon Khoai Island have not been studied much.

The fauna on the island has recorded 51 species of birds, 29 species of amphibians and reptiles, and 12 species of mammals. There are also some rare species in the forest, such as Megaceryle lugubris, Icthyophaga ichthyaetus, Icthyophaga humilis; Gecko gecko, Cnemaspis psychedelica, Varanus bengalensis, Python reticulatus, Python molurus, Coelognathus radiatus, and Chelonia mydas. These species are quite abundant on the island and are not difficult to encounter.
