Hung Temple was built on Hung Mountain (also known as Ca Mountain in the local language or has many other names: Nghia Linh, Nghia Cuong, Hy Cuong, Hy Son, Bao Thieu Linh, Bao Thieu Son, …), 175m above sea level. Legend has it that Hung Mountain is a dragon’s head facing the South, the dragon’s body curves into Van Mountain, Troc Mountain, Pheo Mountain, …. Van Mountain is 170m high, approximately the same as Hung Mountain. Troc Mountain is located between Hung Mountain and Van Mountain, 145m high. According to legend, these are the three peaks of “Tam Son Cam Dia” that have been worshiped by the people for a long time.

The entire Hung Temple relic site used to be a tropical jungle. Now, only Hung Mountain remains lush and green with 150 species of herbs belonging to 35 families, including some remaining giant trees such as acacia, pine, and cycads, and a few ancient tree species such as cycads and cycads.
