Ho Chi Minh Road Landscape Protection Area, Quang Tri

The legendary Ho Chi Minh trail landscape protection area was established under Decision No. 503/QD-UBND dated March 21, 2007 of the People’s Committee of Quang Tri province, located in the south of Dakrong district, Quang Tri province with a total area of ​​5,680 hectares. This is an area with high biodiversity, with initial statistics showing 532 species of vascular plants belonging to 356 genera, 121 families; 32 species of mammals belonging to 17 families, 6 orders; 104 species of birds belonging to 42 families, 15 orders and many other animal species. This conservation area was established not only to preserve the biodiversity of the lowland evergreen forest ecosystem in the transition zone between the North and South Truong Son, but also to protect the cultural and historical relics of the Ho Chi Minh trail during the resistance war against the US to save the country.
