On April 20, 1995, the Ministry of Culture and Information recognized and ranked Ba Ra Mountain – Thac Mo as a national historical and scenic site. The site plays an important role in the development of Binh Phuoc province in general and Phuoc Long town in particular and is a tourist attraction from everywhere.

Ba Ra Mountain is located in Son Giang Ward, Phuoc Long Town, Binh Phuoc Province, 160 km from Ho Chi Minh City. In the middle of a undulating hill area rises a high mountain, with lush, green trees. The mountain is 736m above sea level, the actual height from the foot of the mountain is 563m.

Standing halfway up the mountain, you can see a large area, including the beautiful Thac Mo Ward (formerly the provincial capital of Phuoc Long province), Thac Mo Lake which in the rainy season is up to 12,000 hectares wide, providing water for the Thac Mo hydroelectric plant.

Ba Ra Mountain is associated with the resistance of the people of Phuoc Long. A very luxurious stele house was built here to commemorate the soldiers of the National Liberation Front in the Ba Ra area.

At the foot of the mountain, next to Thac Mo Ward, is the relic of Ba Ra Prison, where many Vietnamese communists were imprisoned. Around the Ba Ra area, there are many other interesting places to visit.
