Bac Me Nature Reserve is located in the communes of Yen Cuong, Phien Luong, Thuong Tan, Lac Nong, Minh Ngoc; Bac Me district; Ha Giang province. The nature reserve was established under Decision No. 142/QD-UB dated April 22, 1994. Geographic coordinates: Latitude: 22 o 36′ to 22 o 44′ North latitude. Longitude: 105 o 17′ to 105 o 30′ East longitude. Area: 27,800 ha.
Bac Me Nature Reserve is located in Bac Me District, in the southeast of Ha Giang Province. The area has mountainous terrain, with some peaks over 1,000 m high, the highest peak is 1,420 m, located on the border between Ha Giang and Tuyen Quang. The lowest elevation of the reserve is under 200 m.
Streams originating from the north and west of the reserve flow south into the Gam River, which flows through Tuyen Quang Province and then into the Lo River. Streams originating in the southeast of the reserve flow into the Pao Nam River, which is also a tributary of the Gam River.
