Krong Trai National Nature Reserve was established under Decision 194/CT dated August 9, 1986 of the Council of Ministers with a total area of 22,290 hectares, of which natural forest accounts for more than 70%.
In addition to the administrative-residential zone and the forest restoration zone, there is also a 1,190ha crocodile protection zone and a 18,517ha strict protection zone located in the communes of Krong Pa, Suoi Trai, Ea Charang and Son Phuoc. The flora and fauna of the forest there is very rich, so far some rare woods and many reptiles have been identified, especially Bang teng cows, Vang deer, Ca toong deer and 6 bird species listed in the Vietnam Red Book… With the advantage of National Highway 25 passing through, connecting the coastal region of the South Central Coast with the Central Highlands, Krong Trai forbidden forest is an attractive destination for ecotourism.
